Pardes is a movie directed by Subhash Ghai, which was released in 1997. The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Amrish Puri, Alok Nath and newcomers Mahima Chaudhry and Apurva Agnihotri. When Subhash Ghai decided on putting Mahima Chaudhry in this movie, he changed her name from Ritu to Mahima cause the letter 'M' was lucky for a Subhash Ghai debut (Manisha Koirala and Madhuri Dixit).
